It's about the birds. The wild ones. My office window

looks out on the deck with a wood railing. Birds come by

landing on it.


They're after the solid cakes of bird food hanging

in a small wire basket outside the office window

looking out on the deck.


If one of them discovers another bird is already there,

they'll perch patiently on the wood railing waiting for

them to have had enough and fly off.


Red-headed woodpeckers are among the sparrows,

chickadees and other birds who come to see what's for

lunch or dinner.


It's casual. If several land on it at the same time,

they'll feed at opposite sides from each other.


Writer's comment: Am I bored working at home

all day? How could I be. I have my bird friends
